“While we were recording last year, we were asked if we wanted to try out for the opening theme for “Bleach.” Mami was especially a huge fan of “Bleach,” so we immediately started to work on it. There were apparently many other candidate artists, so we felt very honored and happy when our song was chosen.” – SCANDAL
When you think of the word “scandal” the first thing that pops into your mind probably isn’t an all girl band from Japan, unless you are a huge fan of the anime series “Bleach” that is. Coming from a music industry somewhat notorious for manufacturing groups, our first look at this high school uniform wearing band made us wonder… until we listened to their music.
With full throttle songs like Shojo S, Tokyo and Space Ranger these four musicians from Osaka have managed to create a beautifully sexy moe inducing appearance with all its obvious commercial appeal while keeping their identity as a rock band to be taken seriously. Their first full length album “Best Scandal” will be released in Japan on October 21.
On September 1, 2009 the members of SCANDAL were kind enough to give an interview to J-Pop World. SCANDAL Interview.

Thanks for this … they deserve to hit the world hard until they beg for more. The video for Shojo S is a favourite. Super kawaii. Yes, BLEACH introduced me and it is true, it looks like a totally manufactured band but they are very, very talented. I can’t wait for the album.

Loved the SCANDAL interview. They have quickly become a must listen to band.
This group went to Seattle WA a few years back and played for Sakura-Con I attended both concerts they played and each time it was a magical expierence. They music is way better live, they have a good stage presence that made the whole concert fantastic. They were pretty neat to meet too. They had a signing where I got to talk with the drummer a bit, (since i’m a drummer I am instantly interested in any drummer) Got to ask her question such as where she learned and how. The drummer is a self taught drummer. Her drum beats to my taste are really playful and bold. This band is one of my favorite bands and they happen to put the best concert I have ever been to.
Your Scandal interview was really good, and I’m gonna read the oreskaband one. I’m also going to look at some of the other groups that I haven’t even heard of before.

The first time I ever heard of or listened to SCANDAL was when I watched the music video for SAKURA GOODBYE on tv a month ago. Since then I’ve been hooked and it’s not just because they all wear school uniforms either!

For all you SCANDAL FANS out there, there’s an upcoming J-Pop Concert on the 1st of December 2012 at the KL Live – Concert Hall.
The Concert is in line with the 30th Anniversary of Look East Policy between Japan & Malaysia which is part of a yearlong celebration being held and the concert showcases Japan’s current Top Female All Girl Band – “SCANDAL” in their SCANDAL SPECIAL LIVE IN MALAYSIA 2012 CONCERT.
The concert which starts off at 8.00pm will also feature one local opening act under the same music label.
This is first time, the artiste known as SCANDAL will be performing in Malaysia and it will be a great opportunity for all their Malaysian Fans to catch them performing LIVE here. The Concert will be part of their promotions tour for the Album “Queens are trumps – Kirifuda wa Queen” which will be launched by SONY Music Malaysia on the 1st week of November 2012.
